I have been working with a friend and fine artist, Cliff Austin in capturing dance-like movement in still photography. We have worked thus far with two different models and had a blast! Basically, we have used two different techniques: The first is using rear sync flash, where a 1 second exposure is used while the model dances, and just before the shutter closes, a flash through a large soft box is fired, freezing her in the final position. The second technique is a little more messy in that the model either throws flour (or baking soda if gluten is an issue), or has flour thrown at her, while the flash stops the action. Obviously a good vacuum clearer is a must for clean up!

Hope you enjoy!
